Andalusia Agriculture
The Cloudseed team landed in Madrid, and visited the busy Mercado San Miguel market to sample regional foods like olives in unseasonably warm weather. Then we set out for Granada, to set up a base to explore the Andalusia agricultural region. We wanted to see Spanish growing challenges first-hand.
On the way, we visited the iconic windmills at Consuegra, of Don Quixote fame, built in the 16th and 17th centuries for milling grain. However, permanent crops like olives, grapes, and nuts now predominantly surround the windmills - not grains. This is a tangible example of crop adaptation where a region's conditions have changed over time. This is at the core of what we address: as climate, water availability, and soil conditions change, yields will change, so Cloudseed Inc. supports water and food security by recommending new crops that are likely to be successful for the soil you’re standing on, using CropRank technology.
